Jeff Samardzija's Health Bolsters Giants Rotation
6 years agoSan Francisco Giants starter Jeff Samardzija is in line to begin the season healthy and should help solidify the Giants rotation. Samardzija made only 10 starts last season and underwent shoulder surgery in the offseason. Known for taking the ball every fifth day, Samardzija certainly is entering unchartered territory this season. The right-hander posted his lowest K/9 rate (6.04) since 2010 while also producing a career-worst 1.63 WHIP last season. The 34-year-old could bounce back but best-case scenario probably would be a sub-4.00 ERA and 11-14 wins. Samardzija lacks roster appeal in fantasy but could be useful down the line in DFS or NL-only formats.
