Justus Sheffield Part Of Package Acquired By Mariners
6 years agoNew York Yankees pitching prospect Justus Sheffield was traded to the Seattle Mariners on Monday night as part of the deal for James Paxton. Sheffield was the Yankees top prospect. Centerfielder Dom Thompson-Williams and starting pitcher Erik Swanson were also part of the deal. Sheffield is a lefty capable of hitting the mid-90s with his fastball and can facilitate strikeouts with his slider. He produced a 6-4 record with a 2.56 ERA and 84/36 K/BB ratio at Triple-A Scranton in 2018. This move increases Sheffield's stock in dynasty formats as he will likely move into the Mariners' starting rotation during the first half of the 2019 season.
