Mike Smith Locks Up Victory In Hogtown
6 years agoCalgary Flames goaltender Mike Smith allowed just one power-play goal on 25 shots in Monday's 3-1 road victory against the Auston Matthews-less Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs were missing Matthews due to a shoulder injury, but they still have a power-packed offense which has posted 42 goals over 12 games, most in the NHL. This was just the second time all season Smith has allowed one or no goals in a start, as he also blanked the Nashville Predators on the road back on Oct. 9. He is still 4-4-1 with a 3.55 goals-against average and .878 save percentage, so he needs to keep this kind of work up if he wants to keep David Rittich from encroaching on his job.
