Olivier Vernon Has High Ankle Sprain

New York Giants head coach Pat Shurmur said linebacker Olivier Vernon (ankle) is dealing with a high ankle sprain and will not practice on Wednesday. Shurmur said that Vernon is "a fast healer," but it seems unlikely that Vernon would be able to play in Week 1 against the Jaguars. High ankle sprains often keep players out for multiple weeks, which would be bad news for a Giants pass rush and good for the Jaguars passing attack and quarterback Blake Bortles.
