Peter Alonso Won't Be Called Up

New York Mets general manager John Ricco said first base prospect Peter Alonso won't be called up in September. With the Mets trying to find playing time for Jay Bruce, Dominic Smith and Wilmer Flores at first down the stretch, there just isn't room for Alonso. Make no mistake, though, that he'll be considered for the first base job out of spring training next year. He's hit .277 with 33 home runs and 111 RBI in 125 games between Double-A Binghamton and Triple-A Las Vegas this year. He's a stash candidate in dynasty leagues as the team's No. 2 overall prospect.
