Josh Allen's Time Appears to be Now
6 years agoBuffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen is on the cusp of taking center stage with the recent injury to fellow teammate and now injured player AJ McCarron. Second-year player Nathan Peterman, at this point, is the only other player that is in the mix to call plays for the Bills. The free-agent pool for quarterbacks is very unimpressive, but it could be picked from later if McCarron's injury is more long-term. Up next is the third preseason game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Sean McDermott has an easier job selecting his QB now that the competition is down to two. As for Allen, playing him for the better part of the next game would be a wise decision. Even a couple quarters in the final tune-up game would go a long way towards him gaining experience before Week 1. Allen has to be working more with the first team to close out training camp so the Bills can find out what they have with their first-round pick, who is likely to be the starter sooner rather than later.
