Rosell Herrera Should Stop Stealing Bases
6 years agoKansas City Royals rookie Rosell Herrera has been a pretty mediocre waiver claim by most measures. He's not been otherworldly good or anything, but a .247 batting average in his first big-league season isn't bad at all. However, he should really stop trying to steal bases. Herrera was caught again on Monday night, and that's the fifth time he's been caught stealing this year. That's tied for 18th most in the league, and that's bad for someone who's only logged 170 at-bats this year. What makes it worse is that he's actually only successfully stolen one base all season. Only Herrera and Brandon Crawford have been caught stealing five or more times but not stolen five or more bases this year. The 25-year-old has a shot at getting plenty of playing time with the rebuilding Royals, but he really needs to stop running so much.
