Jorge Alfaro’s Three-Hit Night Fuels Victory

Batting ninth in an American League ballpark on Thursday night, Philadelphia Phillies catcher Jorge Alfaro led the way for the offense in a 5-4 victory over the Baltimore Orioles. The 25-year-old, who shares starting duties with Andrew Knapp, picked up a season-high three hits on the day, scoring a run in the third inning first. In the fourth he drilled a two-run double, before smacking a solo home run in the sixth, increasing his club’s lead to five runs. After hitting .307 in May, Alfaro hasn’t managed to replicate that success, largely the reason he’s fallen into a platoon behind the plate.
