Alshon Jeffery 2018 Outlook: Can He Stay Healthy Again?
6 years agoAlshon Jeffery has always been a tremendous wide receiver, but he has had his fair share of issues when it comes to staying on the field. For the first time since 2014, Jeffery played in all 16 games last season, but even with the full slate of games he had just 57 catches for 789 yards. It wasn't due to lack of involvement on the offensive side of the ball either, as he received 120 targets, which resulted in the second lowest catch rate in the NFL, only beating out Washington wide receiver Josh Doctson. On the bright side, nine of his 57 catches went for touchdowns, which ranked fourth in the NFL.
Another improvement should be the return of quarterback Carson Wentz to the field as well. Jeffery had just five catches for 57 yards in the three regular season contests following Wentz's injury. You should begin to target Jeffery in the early fourth round, and you should highly consider grabbing him if he is still available in the fifth round, as he is the WR1 on a top-flight offense. If he's able to stay healthy again this year, Jeffery could push across the 1,000-yard mark.
