Peyton Barber 2018 Outlook: Late-Round Value RB
6 years agoTampa Bay Buccaneers running back Peyton Barber came up big for his team over the last five games of the 2017 season, rushing 78 times for 335 yards and one touchdown while also adding 12 receptions for 83 yards. Mostly regarded as an early-down grinder, Barber showed pass-catching chops as well, posting an 84.2% catch rate in 2017. Of course, the major sticking point is the fact Tampa Bay spent an early second-round pick on rookie running back Ronald Jones. Early reports out of Tampa Bay indicate plans to deploy a committee featuring both Barber and Jones. While Jones has a fifth-round ADP, Barber sets up as a late-round value in fantasy drafts and an enticing option for drafters who choose to deploy a zero-RB strategy in 2018. Should Jones get injured or struggle to adapt to the NFL, Barber could take over in what should be an explosive offense in Tampa Bay.
