Shea Weber Will Miss Start of Season After Knee Surgery
6 years agoMontreal Canadiens defenseman Shea Weber will be sidelined approximately five to six months after undergoing knee surgery. Weber was limited to just 26 games last season due to foot and knee injuries and was due for a minor arthroscopic procedure on June 19 as part of his rehabilitation. It was discovered during the procedure that the damage to his knee was more extensive than expected and surgery was performed to repair a meniscus tear in his right knee. Weber could return to action in mid-December, but his effectiveness will likely be limited after two surgeries and so much missed time. That being said, Weber has scored more than half a point per game in all but two of his 14 seasons, a pace that would comfortably put him in the top-30 defensemen over a full season. If he can return to form later this year, Weber could be a valuable addition late in the season after he returns to the ice.
