6 years agoThe New York Islanders added Ruslan Iskhakov to their organization with the 43rd overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. The 5'8" undersized center is set to play for the University of Connecticut next season and is likely at least two or three years away from getting a shot to join the Islanders. Despite showcasing his strong playmaking ability by scoring 104 points in 44 games in the Slovakia Under 18 league, Iskhakov was not widely seen as a top end prospect, presumably due in large part to his size. If Iskhakov can prove himself on the collegiate level against more talented opponents, then he will have a shot of living up to his draft spot, but for now, the pick appears to be a bit of a reach.--Russ Ivanac - RotoBaller
