Ryan Tepera Earns Fifth Save Against Braves
7 years agoToronto Blue Jays closer Ryan Tepera started off shaky in the role upon taking it over from Roberto Osuna in late-May, but he’s really come on strong over the last month. On Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, Tepera shut the door in the ninth inning, picking up his fifth save of the year. He wasn’t as sharp as he has been lately, allowing two hits in the process, but he still got the job done and struck out one. Tepera’s stuff isn’t all that electric or overpowering, but it’s been good enough to entrench him as the team’s closer for now. Of course, his name has also popped up in trade chatter as of late, but with several years of team control left, it would likely take a good haul for Toronto to move him.

Rangers Add Ryan Tepera On Minor-League Deal
2 years agoThe Texas Rangers signed free-agent relief pitcher Ryan Tepera to a minor-league deal on Wednesday. He'll stay in the American League West and will report to Triple-A Round Rock after choosing free agency at the end of May. Tepera spent the last year and a half pitching for the Los Angeles Angels, and he had a rough 7.27 ERA (5.70 FIP), 2.08 WHIP, three walks and 10 strikeouts in 8 2/3 relief innings for the Halos this year. The 35-year-old veteran right-hander will provide organizational relief depth for Texas for the time being, but he's well off the fantasy radar. In nine big-league seasons with four different teams, Tepera has a 3.59 career ERA (4.06 FIP), 1.13 WHIP, 18 saves and a 24.5 percent strikeout rate in 363 1/3 innings pitched.

Ryan Tepera Placed On The 15-Day IL
2 years agoLos Angeles Angels relief pitcher Ryan Tepera landed on the 15-day injured list on Sunday. The right-hander exited Saturday's matchup with the Red Sox and will now go on the shelf because of shoulder inflammation. Tepera has struggled this season, sporting a 1-1 record with two holds. He also has a miserable 11.25 ERA in six relief appearances. Hopefully, some time away will help the 35-year-old get on track. Either way, he has some work to do before earning a place on fantasy rosters. In a corresponding move, LA recalled righty Andrew Wantz from Triple-A Salt Lake.

Ryan Tepera Picks Up Save Monday
3 years agoLos Angeles Angels relief pitcher Ryan Tepera picked up his second save of the season in Monday's 1-0 win over the A's. Tepera got the call to end the game and delivered a 1-2-3 inning with no strikeouts. The veteran has seen save opportunities at times throughout his career and has managed a decent 3.95 ERA through 41 innings pitched this season. However, four different relievers have seen save opportunities for the Angels since the trade deadline, when Raisel Iglesias was traded. Tepera may be the best bet for fantasy managers chasing saves given his prior experience, but his fantasy value is still low given how poorly the Angels have played and the uncertainty at the back of the bullpen.

Ryan Tepera Signs Two-Year Deal With Angels
3 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels have signed relief pitcher Ryan Tepera to a two-year deal worth $14 million. The 34-year-old split the 2021 season with the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox. Overall, he appeared in 65 games and pitched to a 2.79 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP while averaging 10.9 K/9. He compiled two saves and 22 holds over the course of the year. Raisel Iglesias is currently set to be the Angels' closer going into 2022. Tepera could wind up being one of the top setup men in front of Iglesias. Fantasy managers in deep leagues who are looking for setup men who can rack up holds should keep Tepera on their radar.
