Alcides Escobar May Move Around Diamond
6 years agoKansas City Royals shortstop Alcides Escobar is currently the owner of the longest active consecutive-start streak in the league, and it sounds like manager Ned Yost is intending on keeping that streak intact even though Escobar's expected replacement is on the major league squad. A day after Yost dismissed the idea of replacing Esky with rookie Adalberto Mondesi, he changed his tune and said Mondesi would be starting at shortstop one to two times per week. In response to those lost starts, Yost suggested that he'll still find a way to keep Escobar on the field by moving him to center field or third base because of his athleticism. The additional position qualifications would be nice for fantasy baseball if Escobar was any good offensively, but he's still hitting .204 on the season and has nearly no fantasy value outside of the deepest of leagues.
