Charlie Blackmon Continues To Scuffle
6 years agoColorado Rockies center fielder Charlie Blackmon went 0-for-4 on Monday, stretching his current cold streak to 2-for-18. It was reasonable that Blackmon would have a rough day on Monday since he was facing Jacob deGrom, but Blackmon's struggles have slowly been dragging down his stats since he got off to a hot start to the season. Blackmon's monthly batting averages have trended downward as the season has worn on, going from .281 for the month of April to .272 for May and finally .268 so far in June. His power has been sapped as well, going from nine homers in April to three in May and only one this month. Blackmon is still a premiere hitter, so expect a rebound, but the continued decline is a bit concerning.
