Vince Velasquez’s Gem Leads Phillies To Victory
6 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies starting pitcher Vince Velasquez continues to be unpredictable, causing headaches for both his team and his opponents. In his first start of the month, he struck out nine and allowed one run across 6 1/3 innings, before allowing 10 runs in 3 2/3 inning his last time out. On Thursday, however, he was more like his first start of the month, but much better. The 26-year-old did not allow a hit through six innings, carrying a no-hitter through two outs of the seventh. After walking a batter, however, he allowed a double that scored a run, at which point he was pulled. A second run would be charged to him after his exit, but he still recorded a victory.
