Masahiro Tanaka Hits DL After Running Mishap
6 years agoAfter exiting Friday’s game with stiffness in both hamstrings, New York Yankees starter Masahiro Tanaka was placed on the disabled list Saturday with mild strains. The 29-year-old was running from third to home in order to score a run when the injury happened, as he was seen gingerly heading back into the dugout after scoring. He was in the midst of a solid start against the New York Mets at Citi Field, having gone five innings and allowed one run on one hit at the time of the injury. Yankees manager Aaron Boone, who initially said he wouldn’t be surprised if Tanaka made his next start, now states he expects the Japanese starter to be back before the All-Star break next month.
