Masahiro Tanaka Exits Early With Stiffness In Hamstrings

In the top of the sixth inning of Friday night’s game between the New York Yankees and New York Mets at Citi Field, starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly. The 29-year-old, who was in the midst of a brilliant start, would not return to pitch the bottom of the fifth, apparently injuring himself while running the bases. Jonathan Holder would replace him, and the Yankees are reporting that Tanaka exited with stiffness in both hamstrings. He will be re-evaluated on Saturday morning.
