7 years agoWashington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie opened the scoring in Game 4 and later added two assists. Las Vegas was pressing early and hit the post twice without converting. Oshie’s first-period marker shifted the momentum in Washington’s favor and changed the course of the game for the better. The three-point outing doubles Oshie’s total to six points through four games of the Stanley Cup Finals. Of his 21 postseason points, he now has 11 with the man advantage. Akin to his linemate Nicklas Backstrom, if power-play points are something you seek in a DFS player, few have been more productive than Oshie in that regard.--Kevin Acorn

12 months agoWashington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie is unsure if he will be able to keep playing next season due to recurring issues with his back. Back injuries along with a concussion limited the veteran to just 52 regular-season games in the 2023-24 campaign. "I'd love to play next year, but I will need to come back with somewhat of a guarantee that my back won't be -- it's hard putting everyone through the situation," Oshie said on Tuesday. "From my family at home to the team trying to figure out a lineup to young guys getting called up and going down, I'd like to find just an answer and a fix to the problem before I make another run at it." Oshie was limited to just 12 goals and 25 points in his 52 games and notched just one assist in the team's first-round sweep at the hands of the New York Rangers.--Brenton Kemp

1 year agoWashington Capitals right winger T.J. Oshie (upper body) could return to the lineup on Tuesday for the team's crucial matchup with the Detroit Red Wings. The veteran has missed the past four games due to an upper-body injury and said he felt good after practicing on Monday. "In my situation we're going to kind of go day to day, but hopeful that I feel good tomorrow morning," Oshie said. The oft-injured winger is having a down offensive season that has included several injuries, as he has tallied 11 goals and 22 points with 83 shots on goal across just 47 games. The Capitals enter Tuesday's contest sitting just one point back of the Red Wings for the final wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference, although they are one of three teams with 83 points on the season.--Brenton Kemp

1 year agoWashington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie (undisclosed) will miss Tuesday's clash against the Buffalo Sabres. Oshie has had an injury-riddled season, and it continues on Tuesday, as the winger will miss his 27th game of the season due to an undisclosed injury. The 37-year-old has 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 47 games as part of Washington's top six. He has retreated to a depth role at this point of his career, and isn't of much use in fantasy outside of deeper leagues.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller

1 year agoWashington Capitals forwards T.J. Oshie and Aliaksei Protas will both remain sidelined for Friday's game against the visiting Carolina Hurricanes. Both players skated on Friday morning but will both once again sit out as they did for Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The oft-injured Oshie has once again dealt with injuries this season, skating in just 43 games with 11 goals and 19 points on 81 shots on goal in that time. The veteran has played in 58 games or fewer in four straight seasons. Protas, 23, has recorded five goals and 28 points across 65 games as part of his 13:24 of average ice time per game. He has added 90 shots on goal and has a minus-three rating on the campaign.--Brenton Kemp
