Franchy Cordero Lands On Disabled List
6 years agoThe San Diego Padres placed outfielder Franchy Cordero on the disabled list Sunday with right forearm soreness. Cordero had been playing through the injury but Padres brass saw enough in how it affected his swing to shut him down. The forearm issue doesn't sound overly serious and Cordero is expected to take five or six days off before picking up a bat again. The exciting rookie has seven home runs and five steals in 39 games but his slash has dipped to .237/.307/.439. He only had four hits in his last 28 at-bats (.143) with 13 strikeouts. For rosters with room for an injury stash, Cordero could be worth a speculative pickup. The Padres will activate outfielder Hunter Renfroe (elbow) from the disabled list to replace Cordero. Renfroe will play a platoon role with the Friars four other outfielders.
