Aaron Altherr Drives In Two As Phillies Best Cardinals
7 years agoWith Vince Velasquez dealing on the mound, the Philadelphia Phillies simply needed to score some runs to ensure another victory. After Carlos Santana opened the scoring in the fifth inning with a solo home run, the score remained 1-0 into the eighth inning. With two runners on, outfielder Aaron Altherr tripled the lead with a two-run single to shallow center. While it was his only hit of the night, it was a huge hit that provided more run support for the Phillies pitching staff, which they would ultimately need as they surrendered a pair of late runs to make things close.
