Luis Perdomo Risks Demotion After Disastrous Outing
7 years agoSan Diego Padres starting pitcher Luis Perdomo was awful in Wednesday's loss against the Los Angeles Dodgers, allowing nine runs (seven earned) in three innings pitched. Perdomo was hit hard all night, giving up 10 hits with two walks and four strikeouts. After the game, manager Andy Green was blunt. "This is Major League Baseball. You've got to pitch better than that." After pitcher Dinelson Lamet (elbow) was sidelined for the season, Perdomo just had to be average to remain a starter. Now, there's serious risk he'll be demoted. It could be for the best. Perdomo is just 24 and the Padres have a young crop of pitching prospects awaiting their chance. Either way, his 8.36 ERA and 2.50 WHIP merits zero fantasy consideration.
