7 years agoWhile New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton saw his share of time in the outfield this spring, the club has tabbed him to be the designated hitter for Thursday’s season opener. The reigning National League MVP will bat third in his New York Yankees debut as the team takes on the Toronto Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre. Stanton had his struggles in the outfield this spring, particularly in left field, where he has never played in the regular season. Stanton’s best option may ultimately end up being as the DH, but it remains to be seen how the Yankees plan out the season for him.--RDelgado
