Roberto Luongo Drops 5-3 Loss To Ottawa
7 years agoFlorida Panthers goaltender Roberto Luongo did not get the outcome he was looking for in a 5-3 loss at the hands of the Ottawa Senators. Luongo allowed the first goal to Ottawa just 57 seconds into the game, with the Senators taking a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period. The Panthers eventually managed to claw their way back, tying the match at 3-3 five minutes into the third frame. Luongo eventually gave up the tie-breaking score with three minutes to go in the game, getting badly caught out of position and beat by Senators forward Matt Duchene. Ottawa would seal the deal with an additional goal before time expired. Luongo only made 20 saves in the match and now owns a 14-8-2 record this season with a 2.61 goals-against average and .926 save percentage. The Florida Panthers are still fighting for a playoff spot, sitting just three points out of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with 15 games remaining in the regular season. Luongo and the Panthers will look to bounce back from the loss on Thursday night as they take on the red-hot Boston Bruins.
