7 years agoOn Sunday night, the Calgary Flames lost an important game to the Islanders on home ice. Calgary did not earn what would have been important points in a close playoff race. Goalie Mike Smith returned from injury and had a very poor performance, letting in five goals. After the game, Smith said, "I thought early on there I was a little sloppy, but I felt like I settled in pretty well as the game went on and got more comfortable. Tonight I think mentally we weren't engaged enough at the start of the game and it cost us." If Calgary wants to remain a contender in the playoff race, they will need Smith to find his groove and goaltend like the elite goalie we have seen in the past.--Anthony Vattimo
