Tuukka Rask Fends Off Flyers In Return
7 years agoBoston Bruins goaltender Tuukka Rask (lower body) returned to action on Thursday night, making 31 saves on 33 shots in a thrilling match against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Flyers got off to a quick start, with Jakub Vorachek netting a power-play goal just 1:38 into the match, and put 16 shots on goal in the first period. Aside from being beat in the five-hole by Jori Lehtera on a short-handed breakaway in the second frame, Rask stood tall and made some solid saves for the remainder of the night. Rask had been out for two games with a “minor” lower body injury before Thursday’s match and showed no signs of rust or weakness during the tight match. Rask should receive some maintenance days through the rest of the regular season, as the Bruins have a league-high 17 games remaining. That being said, the 30-year-old netminder carries elite status and should continue to be a reliable option when playing. He now possesses a 27-11-4 record with a 2.27 goals-against average and .920 save percentage this season.
