Howie Kendrick Looking To Provide Some Relevance Off The Bench
7 years agoHowie Kendrick re-signed with the Nationals in the off-season, but won't start with any regularity. This obviously inhibits his fantasy value. But injuries struck the team last season and could well happen again. Until then, he'll be a back up to both the outfield and second base position. Kendrick delivered some decent stats in a small sample in 2017. In 305 AB, Kendrick scored 40 runs, knocked in 41 and hit nine homers. He even swiped 12 bases. His calling card has always been batting average, hitting .315 in 2017. His peripherals also back up how solidly he hits. His wOBA in 2017 sat at .361 while his wRC+ was 121. He'd be a decent late-round flyer in deep leagues and should be snatched off the wire if either an outfielder or Daniel Murphy goes down during the season.
