Orlando Arcia Looks To Be A Top-10 SS
7 years agoOrlando Arcia, formerly a top prospect, failed to impress as a rookie in 2016. He was given more opportunity in 2017 to demonstrate his ability to be more than just a defensive choice at shortstop for the Brewers. Arcia started off the season well, but was inconsistent in the second half forcing the team to give him random days off, even when he was hitting well. Arcia had a .283 average in the first half, but only a .268 in the second half. As a whole, the season was not bad for a 22-year-old. He hit 15 home runs, stole 14 bases, and had a .277 average, posting a .309 weighted on-base average. Arcia was able to handle himself at the plate, as his strikeout rate was only 18.2%. With experience, it can be expected that he will draw walks at a higher rate than the 6.6% he did last season. To start the 2018 season, it is expected that Arcia will start as the team’s primary shortstop. He will continue to improve upon his 2017 stats, particularly given the team’s improved lineup. Arcia will be drafted near the 15th round. If you have a dynasty team that is weak at SS or has a middle-infield position, Arcia is the perfect player to obtain. He should not cost much to acquire, but will potentially generate top-10 SS value by the end of the season.
