Hitter Streamers (Week 21): Head-to-Head Leagues

Welcome back, RotoBallers! As a reminder, in this piece we're looking for weekly streamers in head-to-head leagues, which means players who are 50% owned or less in Yahoo! leagues and who have seven games in the week. These players could provide great value off the waiver wire, particularly in head-to-head leagues, for week 21 of the 2017 baseball season.

To catch my streamers column each and every week, add me on Twitter @rotonails and always check the RotoBaller MLB page.

With that said, let’s dive into the stream(ers).

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and weekly lineup resources:

Bats to Stream and Start in Week 21

Eddie Rosario (OF, MIN) - 47% owned

Rosario has eight games this week against favorable pitching matchups. Five of those games, including a doubleheader, are against the White Sox who have traded away the back end of their bullpen. If the Twins chase the less than mediocre starting pitching, they will get to the middle of the White Sox bullpen, and they should score a fair amount. Rosario has flown under the radar a bit, but he has posted a .297/16/54/46/5 line with a BABIP that is right on his career average. He has been even hotter since the break, with a .324 average and six homers in 29 games. Add Rosario and reap the rewards.

Byron Buxton (OF, MIN) - 29% owned

Second on the list is Rosario’s teammate, Byron Buxton. Buxton has been here before, and now he has finally started to click. In 10 July games, Buxton hit .387 with one homer and three steals. In 16 August games, he is hitting .314 with two homers and five steals. He has cut his K-rate from over 30% in prior months to 22.9% and 23.3% in those two months. And one thing he always has going for him is his speed, with 21 steals on the year. Add Buxton and gamble on a monster week. If that doesn’t pan out, you should at least get a stolen base or two.

Yoan Moncada (2B/3B, CHW) – 43% owned

We go from one former top prospect (Buxton) to another: Yoan Moncada. Moncada has had strikeout issues in the minors, just as Buxton has had in the majors. But he too has great speed. In 2015 he stole 49 bases in 81 minor league games, and in 2016 he stole 45 in 106 minor league games. In AAA this year, he was hitting .282 with 12 homers and 17 steals in 80 games. While he is yet to steal a base since his call-up, that will come. He also has three homers in just 25 games and is hitting in the middle of the order. If you want to gamble, Moncada is a great choice to put up a huge week. He also plays eight games this week against favorable pitching matchups.

Leury Garcia (OF, CHW) - 2% owned

Moncada’s teammate, Garcia, is another player who posted extremely impressive stolen base numbers in the minors. In the majors, he has 29 steals despite just 559 at bats. On the year, he is batting .291/8/38/31/8 in just 73 games. He is a great option if the others are owned in your league, as he will face favorable matchups for eight games.

Tim Anderson (SS, CHW) - 30% owned

Rounding out the trio of White Sox is Tim Anderson. Anderson has a career .262/23/105/71/16 line in 206 games, and he just turned 24 years old. He has been on fire in August, with a .281/5/10/12/0 line in just 15 games. Anderson has a power/speed combo combined with a prospect pedigree. In a week with very favorable matchups, he is worth a gamble for a big week.

Max Kepler (OF, MIN) - 18% owned

Kepler has struggled at times this year, and he has severe R/L splits. It is unclear at this point exactly how many lefties he will face, but it should be few enough to make it worth your while. Against righties, he has a line of .285/15/49/43/5 this year. Against lefties, his numbers are putrid. This month, he has smacked five homers in just 15 games. Keep an eye on the matchups as the pitchers are announced, but Kepler could be a good option if he ends up facing a hefty number of righties.

Curtis Granderson (OF, NYM) - 26% owned

The Grandyman has been streaking this year, including a .128/1/6/6/0 line in April. However, he has been scorching hot at times, and for the year he has 19 homers and four steals. He will never provide you with much in the way of batting average, and his stolen base totals won’t wow you. But he does have power and can provide run production. With eight games this week, albeit against tough matchups, he is worth a stream.

Also worth monitoring

Rhys Hoskins (1B/OF, PHI) – In 250 minor league games over the last two years, Hoskins has a line of .282/67/173/207/12. In just eight games this year, he already has three homers. However, he faces tough matchups this week.

Amed Rosario (SS, NYM) – Rosario had a .328/7/66/58/19 line in 94 games in AAA this year, and he has two steals and two homers in 16 games at the MLB level.

Josh Harrison (2B/3B/OF, PIT) – Harrison faces tough pitching matchups this week, but he boasts a .278/13/57/41/12 line on the year.

Howie Kendrick (1B/2B/3B/OF, WAS) – Kendrick has had issues staying healthy, but he has been consistently good in the past and has a .344/6/24/27/9 line in just 55 games this year.
