Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager hit a two-run home run off Framber Valdez with two outs in the ninth inning to end his no-hitter on Tuesday night. He was responsible for the Rangers' only hit and runs of the ballgame, as they lost to the Astros 4-2. Seager has consistently been a bright spot in an otherwise disappointing season for the Rangers. The 30-year-old has been swinging a hot bat recently, slashing .339/.365/.678 with six home runs and nine RBI in his last 15 games. Seager remains one of the premier shortstops in all of fantasy baseball.--Jake Kleiner - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) had a couple of live batting practice sessions during the team's current homestand this week, including one on Friday, according to MLB.com's Kennedi Landry. If he bounces back well, Seager could be activated from the 10-day injured list and return to the starting lineup on Saturday against the division-rival Seattle Mariners and right-hander Luis Castillo. With Seager out, Josh Smith has been serving as the Rangers' starting shortstop. Fantasy managers will want to get Seager back into their starting lineups immediately upon his return, as he was batting .286 (22-for-77) with four home runs, six RBI and eight runs scored before injuring his hamstring in 21 games played. Smith will be the odd-man out when Seager returns despite hitting .299 (23-for-77) with two homers as a super-utility man.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) is targeting a return from the injured list on Saturday. Seager has been on the 10-day injured list with a hamstring injury but is expected to be activated after the minimum 10 days. Fantasy managers should monitor his status over the next few days in case he faces a setback. Before his injury, the 31-year-old was enjoying a solid start to the campaign, as he posted a .286/.345/.468 slash line with four home runs. Under the hood, Seager has generated an elite .416 xwOBA, .312 xBA, and a .621 xSLG, which are all well above the average marks. When Seager is cleared to return, he should be viewed as a high-end No. 1 shortstop. While he remains sidelined, fantasy managers should expect Josh Smith to continue to see most of the opportunities at shortstop.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

The Dallas Morning News' Shawn McFarland reports that Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) is going on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a right-hamstring strain. The good news, though, is that the Rangers expect it to be a short stay on the IL for Seager, who was forced from Tuesday's win early over the Athletics. Veteran shortstop Nick Ahmed, who was re-signed by the team a few weeks ago, will take Seager's place on the active MLB roster for the time being. Ahmed joins the big-league club, but it will most likely be Josh Smith taking most of the starts at the 6 while Seager is sidelined. Although Smith has little pop, he's a worthy middle infielder in deep mixed leagues while he's playing regularly. He also came into Wednesday's game hitting .367 (18-for-49) with three steals and 11 runs scored. Seager needs to be stashed in an IL spot in all fantasy leagues while he heals.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) left Tuesday's game early against the division-rival Athletics with right-hamstring tightness. Before leaving, the All-Star shortstop went 1-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored. Josh Smith shifted from center field to shortstop, with Leody Taveras entering the game to play center field. Fantasy managers will be hoping that the Rangers pulled the 30-year-old two-time World Series MVP early as a precaution in an 8-2 ball game, but we won't know more about the severity of Seager's injury until probably Wednesday morning. At the very least, Seager probably won't be in the lineup as the series against the A's continues on Wednesday. If Seager misses extended time, we'd expect Smith to pick up regular playing time at the 6 in Texas. Seager entered Tuesday's contest hitting a strong .288 (21-for-73) with four homers, six RBI and six runs early in the season. UPDATE: Manager Bruce Bochy said the team won't know the severity of Seager's hamstring injury until he undergoes an MRI exam on Wednesday.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
