Jake Fraley Back With Reds
5 months agoThe Cincinnati Reds activated outfielder Jake Fraley from the family medical emergency list on Wednesday and optioned outfielder Blake Dunn to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Because of his personal leave and a calf injury, Fraley hasn't played for the Reds since July 4, and he wasn't included in the starting lineup for Wednesday's contest against the visiting Colorado Rockies, either, with a left-hander on the mound. But now that the 29-year-old left-handed hitter is back, he should play regularly in right field or as the designated hitter against righties, especially with Nick Martini (thumb) and TJ Friedl (hamstring) on the injured list. Rookie Rece Hinds, who has gotten off to a roaring start in his first two big-league games, made the start in right field on Wednesday. The biggest loser will likely be the left-handed-hitting Will Benson now that Fraley is back in the fold.
