Mackenzie Hughes has not had a top-20 finish this year that saw his score get lower than -10. With winds projected to remain low this week, scores could get lower, blowing away any chance Hughes has of contending at this kind of venue given his lack luster ball striking that ranks 108th in this field. He does, however, possess a top-5 short game which will likely be less useful with the increased number of greens the lack of anticipated wind will allow golfers to hit this week. --Byron Lindeque

2025 has been a rough year for Mackenzie Hughes thus far. His best finish came at the Arnold Palmer Invitational in a tie for 22nd. He has not played his best golf, to put it mildly, and the stats support that. This week's venue, Memorial Park Golf Course, measures almost 7,500 yards and could play longer with the potential for wind. Hughes has struggled driving the ball this year, ranking 157th in strokes gained off the tee and 155th in total driving. Many other components of his game are not clicking as well. He ranks 116th in strokes gained putting and 145th in strokes gained approach to green. It's best to avoid him at all costs this week in DFS formats. --Jake Walker - RotoBaller

Mackenzie Hughes is making cuts in 2025. The Canadian golfer has only missed a cut once so far. Hughes has not contended once in five appearances this year. At The Genesis Invitational, Hughes shot right around the same round all four days (74-73-74-75). It is partly why there are so many red numbers when it comes to metrics for Hughes. He ranks 149th on tour or worse in at least five major strokes gained categories including off the tee, putting, and approaching the green. PGA National is tough enough. For Hughes to have a birdie or better conversion percentage of 29.02% (157th) is even more stark. The Canadian at +8000 is even a bit of a surprise given his form. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller

Mackenzie Hughes had a challenging week at last week's Sony Open, where he missed the cut and lost strokes in nearly every category, except around the greens. Throughout the 2024 season, he only missed four cuts and will be looking to regain his form when he tees it up this week at the American Express in Palm Springs, California. At last year's American Express, over 33% of approach shots were taken from 150-200 yards. In the past 12 months, Hughes has ranked in the 12th percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from the fairway at this distance. Including Hughes in DFS lineups this week comes with some risk.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller

Mackenzie Hughes is set to return to action this week at Port Royal Golf Course for the Butterfield Bermuda Championship. He finished tied for eighth in the Sanderson Farms Championship last month. Port Royal Golf Course is known for being one of the shortest courses on the PGA Tour schedule. Over the past 12 months, Hughes has ranked in the 61st percentile for proximity to the hole on approach shots from 50-100 yards while in the fairway. Generally, he has been one of the top putters on tour, making him a strong candidate for DFS lineups this week.--Ian Christenson - RotoBaller
