George Wolkow Earns Player Of The Week Honors
5 months agoChicago White Sox outfield prospect George Wolkow has earned the Player of the Week honors in the Carolina League after a strong performance for Single-A Kannapolis. Wolkow went 10-for-22 with seven runs, two triples, three homers and 14 RBI to earn the award. Wolkow, 18, was a seventh-round pick in 2023 for the White Sox and has quietly stood out this season on the farm. Between Rookie Ball and Single-A, Wolkow has hit a combined .297 with 10 homers and 25 RBI in 158 at-bats. The outfielder stands tall at 6-foot-7, 239-pounds and is very athletic in the field. Swinging from the left side, Wolkow still possesses raw power as his body is still maturing, which should lead to more power down the road. Aside from the positives, Wolkow does tend to strikeout plenty and has 78 times in 158 at-bats and is something that must be corrected before climbing the ladder of the minor leagues. As is stands, Wolkow has a large amount of potential, but is years away from a potential big-league debut and should only be watched by dynasty managers at the moment.
