Jacob deGrom Throws Off The Mound
5 months agoTexas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom (elbow) said he threw off a mound during a bullpen session on Monday for the first time since having Tommy John surgery last June. deGrom threw around 15 pitches on Monday and felt good after throwing all fastballs. The 35-year-old veteran hurler will continue to build his arm up with more bullpen sessions before he's eventually allowed to start facing live hitters. Before returning, the Rangers will have deGrom go on a lengthy minor-league rehab assignment as well, so his return from the 60-day injured list is still a ways off. deGrom could be a candidate to return to Texas' starting rotation later in the second half of the season, and he'll be a wild card in terms of his fantasy value as he continues his recovery process from elbow reconstruction. Fantasy managers wouldn't be wise to expect much from a pitcher who has made only 17 starts the last two years combined.
