Braves Could Look To Trade For Corner Outfielder, Back-End Starter
6 months agoThe scuffling Atlanta Braves have some clear needs with seven weeks to go before the trade deadline. Barring a big surge soon from outfielder Adam Duvall, who has filled in at right field since Ronald Acuna Jr.'s (knee) season-ending knee injury on May 12, the Braves seem likely to prioritize adding at least one corner outfielder. Left fielder Jarred Kelenic has picked it up since moving into an everyday role, so finding someone to split time with Duvall could be a desired move for Atlanta. The Braves have also had a tough time with the No. 5 spot in their rotation. Rather than keep cycling youngsters or fringe major-league starters, the Braves seem likely to pursue a back-of-the-rotation starter who can give them five to seven innings of solid, if unspectacular, work every time out. And with both lefty relievers A.J. Minter (hip) and Tyler Matzek (elbow) hurt, Atlanta could look to add another lefty reliever before the deadline.
