Kerry Carpenter Not Close To Resuming Baseball Activities
6 months agoDetroit Tigers outfielder Kerry Carpenter (spine) has been rehabbing at Comerica Park but is not close to resuming baseball activities. "He's doing a lot of therapy and a lot of work, but to get things to heal, there's zero baseball activity," manager A.J. Hinch said. "There's not much to speak of on the baseball front. On the rehab front, whether it's heat, whether it's exercises, those aren't really glorious to talk about or write about, but it's just general physical therapy that he's going through until he can introduce baseball activity in the weeks ahead." The 26-year-old was diagnosed with a lumbar spine stress fracture, so it's really no surprise he's not doing anything baseball related yet. Carpenter won't be able to return to the big-league roster until after the All-Star break in mid-July. Until then, Akil Baddoo should continue to benefit from increased playing time in Detroit's outfield.
