Cody Bradford Could Start Long-Tossing Soon
6 months agoTexas Rangers left-hander Cody Bradford (back, rib) said on Wednesday that he has started throwing from around 120 feet and emphasized that he feels like he's recovering much better than he was before his most recent shutdown. He should begin long-tossing soon. Bradford initially landed on the injured list with a lower-back strain after he couldn't throw a bullpen session between starts. The initial plan was for him to miss the minimum 15 days on the IL, but doctors found a "very small" stress fracture on the 12th rib on his right side, according to manager Bruce Bochy. There's still no firm timeline for his return, but Bradford thinks he's on his way to getting back on the mound. The 26-year-old southpaw had gone 3-0 with a 1.40 ERA over his first three starts and had been the team's best starter.
