Tobias Myers Starting On Friday
6 months agoMilwaukee Brewers rookie right-hander Tobias Myers will get the nod on Friday to start against the Detroit Tigers in Motown for the series opener. Myers was recalled from Triple-A Nashville earlier in the week and wasn't needed in a relief role, so he's fresh and ready to go for Friday's game in a strong matchup. The 25-year-old has been up and down in his first seven big-league appearances (six starts) for the Brew Crew this year, going 1-2 with a 5.40 ERA (5.76 FIP) and 1.46 WHIP with 10 walks and 27 strikeouts in 26 2/3 innings pitched. Detroit ranks 23rd in baseball with a .676 OPS on the year and also have the 10th-most strikeouts as a team with 548, so Myers could be an effective deep-league streamer for Friday's slate. Given how banged up the Brewers' rotation is right now, too, he could stick around for another start next week.
