White Sox Call Up Outfielder Duke Ellis From Double-A
6 months agoThe Chicago White Sox called outfielder Duke Ellis from Double-A Birmingham on Tuesday. The 26-year-old has impressive speed, stealing 34-of-35 bases while hitting .258/.341/.308. He owns a career .665 OPS and 0.39 BB/K ratio over four minor-league seasons. Ellis will help the team's outfield defense and could have some playing time opportunities with Andrew Benintendi (Achilles) and Tommy Pham (ankle) on the injured list. Fantasy managers in deep leagues needing an injection of steals will need to pay close attention to how the American League Central cellar dwellers use Ellis.
