Ty Gibbs To Start 15th At Daytona
10 months agoTy Gibbs will begin his sophomore season in the Cup Series by starting 15th in Sunday's Daytona 500. Fresh off winning Rookie of the Year in 2023, there is a lot to be excited about for Gibbs heading into 2024. Considering he won the Xfinity Series championship at just 20 years old, a playoff appearance in his second full season is not just possible, but expected. Evidence of this expectation can be seen in the fact that FanDuel sportsbook has him with the 14th-best odds of winning the Cup championship, suggesting the books see him as a playoff driver. Despite these expectations, and while we believe Gibbs will have a magical season, that magic probably won't be evident Sunday at Daytona. In his three Cup starts at this track, the second-generation phenom has an average finish of 24.3 and an average DraftKings score of just 14.72. With other proven restrictor-plate drivers coming in at lower prices, including some that offer more upside in terms of place differential, there is no incentive to play the No. 54 this weekend in DFS.
