Joel Embiid Could Miss 6-8 Weeks
10 months agoAccording to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (knee) could miss six to eight weeks. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reported that the reigning MVP underwent a procedure on his left meniscus on Tuesday and would be re-evaluated in roughly four weeks. However, most fantasy managers had already mentally prepared themselves for the worst, including the chance Embiid won't be back this season. That said, Embiid was having arguably the best year of his career before going down with the injury, averaging 35.3 points, 11.3 boards, 5.7 assists, 1.8 blocks, and 1.1 steals. As expected, replacing that type of production is nearly impossible, although Paul Reed, averaging 10.5 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks in 13 starts, will do his best. The 76ers are rumored to be aggressive in the next few days heading into the trade deadline, so help could be on the way.
