Reds Ink Outfielder Adolfo Sanchez
11 months agoThe Cincinnati Reds agreed to terms with outfielder Adolfo Sanchez (MLB.com's No. 5 international prospect) and shortstop Naibel Mariano (No. 42) to open the 2024 international signing period on Monday, according to an industry source. Sanchez's deal is for $2.7 million, while Mariano will receive $1.65 million. Sanchez is one of the best overall hitters in the class and uses a mechanically sound left-handed swing to drive the ball to all fields. His power is expected to increase as he matures and fills out his wiry frame. Given his range, ability to get good jumps and plus arm strength, he could stick in center field long term. Mariano is a 6-foot-3 hard-hitting infielder that bats from the right side. He makes good contact and should grow into more power potential in the future. Mariano can be aggressive at the dish, so like all prospects his age, he's working on his plate discipline and strike-zone recognition.
