Denny McCarthy Looking For A Rebound In Start No. 2
11 months agoGiven the historic emphasis placed on birdie-making and putting, Denny McCarthy would have seemed to profile very well at the Plantation Course last week. However, strangely enough, and for his second consecutive start, the normally steady McCarthy struggled to get anything going on the slow Kapalua greens. This cold stretch with the flat stick will need to turn around if he's to have any chance of contending on Oahu. McCarthy has shown a certain affinity for shorter courses in his career, logging top tens at Pebble Beach, Sea Island, TPC Deere Run, and TPC River Highlands within the last two seasons. He's got the profile to find success at a venue like Waialae; his backers will just have to hope he was able to knock off all the rust during last week's four days in the golfing doldrums.
