Cardinals Add Chaim Bloom To Front Office
10 months agoThe St. Louis Cardinals are set to hire Chaim Bloom to their front office in an advisory role, according to sources. The Cardinals had been linked to the former Boston Red Sox chief baseball officer, dating back to the beginning of the offseason. The 40-year-old was fired by Boston in September after the team was nearing its third last-place finish in four years. In his five seasons with the Red Sox, the team went 351-340 and turned around a terrible farm system that Bloom inherited. Bloom joins the Cardinals after a disappointing 71-91 finish in 2023 after four straight playoff appearances. He served as the director of baseball operations for the Tampa Bay Rays and executed some big signings in Boston for Rafael Devers while also trading away Mookie Betts. "It will be good to get an outside perspective of our organization from someone who is as well-respected as Chaim," president of baseball operations John Mozeliak.
