Tim Anderson Open To Playing Shortstop Or Second Base
1 year agoFree-agent infielder Tim Anderson is open to playing either shortstop or second base in 2024, according to sources. The flexibility up the middle could open a few more potential landing spots for a player whose stock is down significantly after a rough 2023 campaign in which he hit an uncharacteristic .245 (121-for-493) with only one home runs, 25 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 52 runs scored for the Chicago White Sox. Anderson is a former batting champion, though, and is only 30 years old. He played well at the keystone for Team USA in this year's World Baseball Classic, so shifting over to second probably wouldn't be a big deal defensively. The Angels reportedly have interest in him this offseason. Zach Neto is set to open next year as the starting SS, so Anderson would be a nice fit at 2B.
