Joonas Korpisalo Shuts Out Penguins With 40 Saves
2 years agoOttawa Senators goaltender Joonas Korpisalo had an impressive outing in Monday's preseason clash versus Pittsburgh. A Penguins team that featured Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin failed to get anything past Korpisalo, and the Finnish netminder celebrated a 40-save shutout in a 3-0 win. Korpisalo has spent the last few campaigns playing behind a very leaky defense in Columbus, but he showed his class last season during a short stint with the Kings and now finds himself in a great spot in Ottawa. The Senators also couldn't keep the puck out of their net in 2022-23, but they are expected to be among the most improved teams in the upcoming campaign.

Joonas Korpisalo Starts For Bruins Monday
3 weeks agoBoston Bruins goaltender Joonas Korpisalo has been named the starter for Monday's matchup against the Buffalo Sabres. He will receive the starting nod for the 20th time this season, heading into action with a 10-7-2 record. Korpisalo's wins this season include a 3-1 victory against Buffalo on Dec. 21, during which he made 19 saves. The Finnish netminder has posted a respectable 2.78 goals-against average with three shutouts, but he has a lowly .896 save percentage. Fantasy managers never really know what they will get with Korpisalo. However, since the Sabres have the worst record in the Eastern Conference and have only won nine road outings all season, Korpisalo looks like a solid fantasy option on Monday.

Joonas Korpisalo Shuts The Door On Thursday
2 months agoBoston Bruins goaltender Joonas Korpisalo stopped all 29 shots he faced against the Ottawa Senators on Thursday evening. The Senators had a slight edge in the shot total, but Korpisalo was able to lead the way. Morgan Geekie scored the eventual game-winner in the second period, and David Pastrnak put the game out of reach with an empty-netter in the final seconds. Fantasy managers should expect Korpisalo to continue to operate as the top option in Boston for the time being, as Jeremy Swayman is dealing with a "minor" upper body injury. Swayman exited early on Wednesday evening, and Korpisalo entered the game in relief. Over his previous three contests, Korpisalo has held a solid .937% SV and a 1.71 GAA. He could be worth a look in deeper formats as a low-end streaming option on Saturday afternoon, facing the Colorado Avalanche.

Joonas Korpisalo Records 21-Save Shutout Versus Utah
4 months agoBoston Bruins goaltender Joonas Korpisalo skated away with his second shutout of the season as interim head coach Joe Sacco started his reign with a 1-0 win over Utah Thursday night. Giving Korpisalo the nod instead of Jeremy Swayman was a big call from Sacco, but he didn't have to regret it. Korpisalo stopped 21 shots en route to victory. The Finnish netminder is now sporting a 4-2-1 record for the season, having allowed 2.38 goals with a .911 save percentage. Swayman's numbers pale in comparison, so we might start seeing Korpisalo more often under the new regime.

Joonas Korpisalo To Start Season Opener
6 months agoBoston Bruins goaltender Joonas Korpisalo will be between the sticks for Tuesday's season opener against the Florida Panthers. Boston managed to get Jeremy Swayman under a new contract right before the start of the season, but the team has decided to go with Korpisalo for the first game. The Finnish netminder faces a difficult challenge on the road against the defending Stanley Cup champions. Korpisalo has a 3-7-2 career record against the Panthers with a 3.81 goals-against average and a .893 save percentage.
