Shane Bieber Strikes Out Seven In Rehab Start
1 year agoCleveland Guardians right-hander Shane Bieber (elbow) appears to be nearing a return from the 60-day injured list after throwing 3 2/3 innings of hitless and scoreless baseball while walking three and striking out seven for Triple-A Columbus on Sunday. Bieber threw 64 pitches in his second minor-league rehab start and could be activated from the injured list to rejoin Cleveland's starting rotation later this week to replace rookie Tanner Bibee (hip), who has been shut down for the rest of the year. The 28-year-old hasn't pitched in the big leagues since July 9, though, and even if he returns to Cy Young form (which is unlikely), he's not going to have much time at all to make an impact for fantasy managers.
