Nick Taylor is putting together a solid 2025 season. He has three top 12 finishes, including a win at the Sony Open in Hawaii, and has only missed one cut. This is Taylor's first start since 2022 at this week's Texas Children's Houston Open. This week's venue, Memorial Park Golf Course, is a monster of a golf course, measuring in at almost 7,500 yards and could play longer if wind is present. Taylor doesn't hit the ball particularly far, but his approach game and putting could play nicely. He ranks ninth in strokes gained approach to green and 78th in strokes gained putting. More of a dark horse play, but he may be worth the risk in DFS this week.

Nick Taylor has had a very nice beginning to 2025. He won at the Sony Open. The Canadian golfer also has two other Top 25 results including at Scottsdale last week. Despite this, Taylor may not enjoy the inclement weather much over the first day or so this week. He just did not make enough putts to contend in his previous two tournaments. Again, rain and some gusty winds could play havoc off the tee for Taylor. The key will be around the green. Taylor has gained nearly a stroke (0.966 - 8th) in 2025 so far. With his putting metrics near the Top 50, a weekend surge is possible. For Taylor, the trick may be weathering Thursday and early Friday. For that reason, maybe fading from a DFS standpoint is wise.

Nick Taylor has been unbelievable at Scottsdale the past two years. The Canadian golfer won the tournament in 2024 in a dramatic playoff over Charley Hoffman. 2023 saw him nearly upend Scottie Scheffler before finishing runner-up. Taylor has come a long way. Earlier this year, he won in a playoff at the Sony Open. For the most part after an early disaster at The Sentry, Taylor has found his way once more. He does not play the majors well. However, tournaments like Scottsdale bring out a different golfer in him. Taylor does not drive the ball well (290.7 yards - 171st). However, his approach to the green ranks 8th and that sets up a lot of free putts. Last year, he averaged around 28.5 putts per first and fourth round. Taylor seems to be counted out often this week. He could be great from a Top 10 betting standpoint.

Nick Taylor followed up his win at The Sony Open with a T-12 at The American Express. The Canadian golfer closed off his final round with a solid 67 to nearly backdoor into a Top 10 result. One big trend for Taylor in January has been approaching greens. He has gained a whopping 1.089 strokes which ranks 14th on the PGA Tour. Yes, the course setups have been good, but Taylor is in good form. This metric has always been better too (55th in 2024). Now, Taylor must make putts and so far, he is doing enough of that in 2025. His actual 2025 scoring average is 2.34 strokes better than 2024. Yes, it is early but Taylor has improved notably in the early going.
