Tommy Edman In Leadoff Spot Against Mets
1 year agoSt. Louis Cardinals infielder/outfielder Tommy Edman (calf) is playing center field and batting leadoff on Thursday against the visiting New York Mets and left-hander Jose Quintana. Edman is back in action after being taken out of Wednesday's game early against the Oakland Athletics due to a right-calf contusion from when he fouled a ball off his leg. The 28-year-old has been serving as the Cardinals' leadoff man of late against left-handers, which will make him more appealing in DFS. The 28-year-old switch-hitter has been better from the right side of the plate against southpaws in 2023, going 30-for-104 (.289) with five of his 11 home runs and 11 RBI in 47 games. Overall, Edman is hitting .249/.312/.431 with 11 long balls, 37 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 54 runs scored in his 325 at-bats.
