Frankie Montas Not Expected To Return This Year
1 year agoNew York Yankees right-hander Frankie Montas (shoulder) remains in a throwing program at the team's minor-league complex in Florida, and it doesn't sound as though he's going to make it back to the big leagues in 2023. Montas hasn't made any significant progress since having arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder way back in February. His setback earlier this summer was likely the final nail in the coffin for him being able to make it back this year. Even if the 30-year-old was able to return, he wouldn't be an option for fantasy lineups in the final month of the regular season. In his six starts for the Yanks last year after being acquired from the Oakland Athletics, he put up a rough 6.35 ERA (4.93 FIP), 1.54 WHIP and 33 strikeouts in 39 2/3 innings pitched.
